Thank You Fall Family Festival Sponsors & Volunteers

Friday, October 29, was the evening of a fantastic Fall Family Festival! Students played, danced and were spooked! We have many incredible people and generous businesses to thank for this fun family friendly event. The following companies generously donated their services: My Pony & Petting Zoo, Mike & Sheila Farrell for taking festive photos, Scott Emo and the magicians, and Sunnyvale Host Lions Club. Students from Monroe, Campbell, Del Mar and Westmont volunteered to run booths. Folks from Bethel Church stepped up to help us too!

As you know, FFF is also a fundraiser for the school. Monies earned go directly to our hard working staff of teachers! We also want to thank Awake Up Call Coffee Truck, Baskin Robbins, Hobee’s, Home Depot, Pizza My Heart, Sharkie, Summer Winds, and Una Mas. Our Silent Auction consisted of wonderful baskets and teacher donated services. We want to thank the many parents who obtained incredible gift certificates from companies, as well as donated items to go in the baskets!

Our evening was festive thanks to the talents of our DJ, Randy Dinga! I think we can all agree that it was fun watching so many students get up on the stage to sing and dance! We look forward to seeing Randy again at our Jog-A-Thon in the spring.

In closing, we want to say that this event is not possible without the help of so many dedicated volunteers. Thank you to the parents who came to help set up, work booths and stayed to help clean up!

Join us for the Castlemont Fall Family Festival on Friday, 10/29!!!

The Castlemont Fall Family Festival takes place this Friday, 10/29 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Bring your friends and family and join the Castlemont community at this wonderful fundraising and community event.

The event is taking place, rain or shine and promises to be one of our funnest and most successful Fall Family Festivals ever.  With activity booths  including Crazy Hair, Candy Sand Art, Face Painting, Tattoos, Silly bands, Glow-in-the-Dark Jewelry, Petting Zoo, Pumpkin Walk and more, there will be something fun for the entire family!  And this year, we will be continuing the tradition of a Haunted House so come ready for this spooky adventure.

So many people are working really hard to make this event great.  If there is rain, we have a contingency plan and though we may reduce the number of activities, it will still be a terrific event for us all to enjoy.  Thank you to all the volunteers who are working together to make this a great even!

Keep in mind that all proceeds from this event are used to fund teacher accounts, giving teachers discretionary funds to purchase additional supplies, books and other instructional or class materials that will ensure the best classroom experience for our kids.  Thank you for your generous support!

See you Friday!

PBIS Life Skills

What a great start to the year! Castlemont students are back and ready to learn. September marks the beginning of our life-skills program. This month’s focus will be Respect, which is also a part of our 3 R’s (Respect, Responsibility and the Right To Be Safe) at school. Students are learning how to be respectful and why it is important in both our school and community. We encourage parents to practice the 3 R’s at home with their child to demonstrate how respect plays a role in our daily life. What is important is that students learn the life skills which will help them handle things as they move through their day to day activities. Just like math and reading, we need to practice these skills in our everyday life.

Some ways we practice respect in our daily lives:

  1. Look at someone when they speak
  2. Listen to others and their ideas
  3. Speak in a calm, thoughtful manner
  4. Be considerate
  5. Be on time
  6. Keep your promises
