Volunteer Opportunities

Some of the positions are filled for next year but if you are interested, you can buddy-up or mentor with the person in the position so you can take it on the following year. All help is welcome and appreciated.

| Position | Responsibilities |

| President | Presides at all meetings and oversees committees and appoints chairpersons. Oversses budget and funds allocation, ensures events are organized and executed on time and within budget. |
| VP Membership | At the start of each year, this person(s) runs the membership drive, collects data about our members and manages the Assemblies fundraiser (initial parent donations to ensure Assemblies are fully funded and the scheduling process can begin). |
| VP Fundraising | Oversees the various fundraising activities for the school year including, organizing, publicizing and managing events. Also responsible for measuring the effectiveness of current campaigns and uncovering new sources of fundraising revenue. |
| Secretary | Keeps minutes at all meetings, provides minutes of the previous meetings for approval, and conducts any necessary correspondence of the HSC. |
| Treasurer | Receives, deposits and reports all incoming funds and works closely with Financial Secretary in preparing monthly financial reports. Maintains and files tax returns for the HSC and helps to prepare the annual budget. |
| Financial Secretary | Disburses payments (writes checks) and tracks all outgoing funds, balances the monthly checking account statements on QuickBooks and works closely with Treasurer in preparing and presenting the monthly financial report to the HSC. Also monitors teacher accounts and helps to prepare the annual budget. |
| Assemblies Coordinator | Plan, schedule, and pay for monthly assemblies. *Plan out about one assembly per month *Get a variety of types of assemblies *Figure out cost of each assembly and stick to HSC budget *Coordinate via email and phone to each assembly company *After confirmations from all assemblies, make a schedule for office and teachers *Put all assemblies on master calendar in office *Get check from HSC treasurer before each assembly for presenters *Coordinate with Abel about what each assembly needs in cafeteria *Send out a reminder email to teachers when assemblies are a couple of days away *Get information about each assembly for student council to present on day of assembly *Rotate assembly times between grades K-2 and 3-5 *Get feedback from teachers about each assembly *Keep all information in assembly binder for future use |
| Birthday Book Club | Birthday Book Club is an opportunity for students to donate books to the Castlemont Library as a way to celebrate and recognize their own birthdays. Books are marked with a special label noting the students name. The student has a chance to take a photo with the book and our principal. The role of the Birthday Book Club Coordinator is to facilitate the collection/donation of books from student and picture taking of respective students with the Principal. |
| Book Fair | Castlemont holds a Book Fair twice a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring. This position is responsible for coordinating all volunteer activities including recruiting for volunteers to work during the book fair. Coordinate setup and tear down activities and coordinate directly with Scholastic for the event. |
| Box Tops | Several times per year, publicize and oversee Box Top collection campaign. |
| eScrip Coordinator | Coordinate and oversee the eScrip program by ensuring that Castlemont families register and add their grocery, credit and debit cards to the program to ensure the maximum benefit to our school. |
| Fall Family Festival | Oversee and manage the Fall Family Festival including recruiting for volunteers, coordinating with vendors (food and activities), working with teachers and volunteers to ensure the event is a success. This position is typically the lead position of a broader committee made up of several people each of which would take on specific portions of the festival. The Committee Chair is responsible for recruiting and organizing the broader committee. |
| Family Fun Night Coordinator | In coordination with local businesses, arrange fundraising events at local restaurants. Typically, local restaurants will accept Castlemont families & friends with a flyer and a portion of the proceeds for that evening will be returned to our school. |
| GATE Coordinator | Coordinator for our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) programs |
| Gift Wrap | Manage and oversee the Innisbrook Gift Wrap and Food fundraiser. This is one of our most important fundraisers each year and helps to fund field trips and other important activities at Castlemont. This is a perfect position to share with a buddy or two and to mentor in the coming year with a person who has run this campaign successfully for several years. |

| Hospitality & Social Coordinator | Monthly - Set up, buy, and coordinate snacks and drinks for each Home and School Club meeting Twice Yearly - Plan, set up and coordinate staff appreciation luncheons. The first in December, all luncheon items donated and prepared by parents of Castlemont. The second is usually in late May and is catered by local merchants as well as donations from parents. |
| Jog-a-thon | Coordinate, plan and oversee the yearly Castlemont Jog-a-thon including, recruiting for volunteers, coordinating with vendors, leading the t-shirt design contest, producing the t-shirts, coordinating supplies (markers, water, etc.). Set-up, execution and tear down after the event. |
| Laminators | Ensure that lamination is done and lamination supplies are ordered as needed. |
| Life Lab Coordinator | Oversee, maintain and coordinate volunteer efforts and class room visits for the Castlemont Garden and Life Lab. |
| Marquee Coordinator | In coordination with the front office, update the Castlemont Marquee to ensure that the information is current at all times. |
| Newsletter Editor | Coordinate collection of content, layout the newsletter and submit it to the office for distribution. Newsletter is produced every two weeks and usually requires about 2 hours each time for coordinating the content and laying out the newsletter. |
| Office Coordinator | Responsible for collecting and distributing HSC mail and ensuring adequate inventory of supplies is kept on hand. When supplies are needed, coordinate with the school office to order and pay for HSC specific supplies. |
| School Picture Coordinator | Responsible for recruiting and coordinating volunteers and ensuring that classes are brought to and exit the picture taking area in a timely and orderly manner. |
| Scrip Coordinator | Manage and oversee the Scrip Gift Card program including distribution of flyers, collection of funds and distribution of funds. |
| Spirit Wear Coordinator | Responsible for sales of Castlemont Spirit Wear including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and backpacks. Ensure adequate inventory levels and place orders as needed. |
| SSC Rep | School Site Council (SSC) representative to the HSC. Current member of the SSC who is responsible for reporting back on SSC topics and discussions. |
| Website Coordinator | Maintain the Castlemont HSC website including updating posts, maintaining calendar, updating available documents. This is a great position for someone who wants to help but can't spend a lot of time on campus. |
| Yearbook Coordinator | Responsible for collecting and taking pictures at Castlemont events and of the Castlemont student community throughout the year. Coordinate the yearbook order process including managing pre-orders and sales. Work closely with the chosen vendor to format, layout and print the yearbook. |
